Zenless Zone Zero Best Teams

Welcome to our article covering the best teams in Zenless Zone Zero. Teambuilding is a crucial aspect in gacha games as you need to manage your resources and make the best with what you have available.

Version 1.1 is coming up soon, and the best teams in the game have mostly been sorted out. As expected, the Limited Agents shine much more than the Standard options.

Ellen and Zhu Yuan teams are the strongest in the game at the moment. Just below that are teams built around Grace, Soldier 11, or Nekomata.

Every team utilizes different synergies, but every team has a solid degree of flexibility. Utilizing your account to the fullest with what you have on two teams for Shiyu Defense will be the goal.

Overall, the best teams also generally reflect the ranks in our ZZZ Tier List.

For the teams, I’ll be breaking them down into three categories:

  • Best Teams
    • Ellen Teams
    • Zhu Yuan Teams
  • Strong Teams
    • Grace/Disorder Teams
    • Soldier 11 Teams
    • Nekomata Teams
  • F2P Teams
    • Anton Teams
    • Corin/Billy Teams

ZZZ Best Teams

When it comes to the current best teams in the game, they simply revolve around the two Limited Agents: Ellen and Zhu Yuan. While both of these Agents have ideal teams, they are still fairly flexible to build around, with Zhu Yuan having very accessible teammates.

Ellen Teams

Zenless Zone Zero Mono Ice Ellen Team

Ellen, Lycoan, Soukaku

Ellen was the first Limited Agent to release, and her power is undeniable. Her damage is extremely high, and she has strong teammate options as well. Lycaon and Soukaku are both Ice and are both strong on their own.

Lycaon is a premier Stunner due to his 35% DMG multiplier and Soukaku has a large ATK buff. If you have Soukaku’s Mindscape at a high level, she provides even more value like an Ice DMG bonus for the team.

Ellen is also a flexible Attack Agent. While many players default to the team above, you can run her with other Stun/Support Agents as well. You can even opt to run a double Support team if you don’t have Lycaon.

Zenless Zone Zero Ellen Lycaon Rina Team

ZZZ Ellen Lucy Nicole Team

This makes Ellen both powerful and flexible. You can maximize your team synergy with Additional Abilities, or simply run the best Agents you have together regardless of this synergy.

Zhu Yuan Teams

Zenless Zone Zero Zhu Yuan Team

Zhu Yuan, Anby, Nicole

Zhu Yuan is our second limited Attack Agent, and her performance is right up there with Ellen. The main difference between Zhu Yuan and Ellen is that Zhu Yuan is a bit more restrictive with her team options.

Her kit deals more damage to stunned enemies, and she gains empowered Basic Attacks when Chain Attacking. This heavily incentivizes you to run a Stun Agent with Zhu Yuan.

Luckily, Anby and Nicole are both free Agents that synergize well with Zhu Yuan. Nicole is Zhu Yuan’s best Support due to her Ether DMG buff combined with her DEF shred.

Anby is free and activates her Additional Ability with Nicole. However, you can still choose to run Koleda/Lycaon in this slot over Anby. While you miss out on their Additional Ability, they can stun enemies faster than Anby.

ZZZ Zhu Yuan Lycaon Team

ZZZ Zhu Yuan Koleda Team

While Zhu Yuan is technically more restrictive when it comes to team building, she has two strong options available to her for free, making her extremely valuable to pull for.

ZZZ Strong Teams

After Ellen and Zhu Yuan, there is a noticeable drop off in performance, but these teams are still strong enough to tackle Shiyu Defense. These teams generally revolve around 1 or 2 standard S-Rank Agents. While Koleda and Lycaon are very strong Stunners, they won’t carry the damage of your team like the other S-Ranks.

Grace/Disorder Teams

Zenless Zone Zero Disorder Team Piper Grace Rina

Piper, Grace, Rina

Grace and Piper are currently the only Anomaly Agents in the game, and they combine together extremely well. They both apply Anomaly extremely quickly and deal high damage with it.

With this team, you look to quickly apply Shock with Grace, and trigger Disorder with Piper (by triggering Assault). Rina is there as a Support to buff the teams PEN Ratio and extend the Shock duration.

Anomaly teams are also generally easier to build since you don’t need to worry about Crit substats. Anomaly damage scales with ATK and PEN, but not Crit.

ZZZ Grace Koleda Rina Team

This team is another popular variation. For this team, we have Koleda to Stun and Burn enemies. The Stun window will increase the team’s damage while her Fire damage can burn enemies and trigger Disorder. While Koleda won’t trigger Disorder as much as Piper, the Stun capability also helps increase damage.

This team can be difficult to build since it uses three S-Rank Standard Agents, but if you happen to have all three, this team will be quite strong as well.

Soldier 11 Teams

Zenless Zone Zero Piper Fire Team

Soldier 11, Lucy, Piper

Soldier 11 Teams are another strong S-Rank team that doesn’t require any limited Agents. Soldier 11 is unique in that her Basic Attacks deal Fire DMG when timed correctly.

This gives her strong damage and potential to Burn enemies more frequently. This lets her play in both traditional Stun/Support teams and Anomaly teams.

This first team uses Lucy as a solid Support that also activates both Additional Abilities.  Piper is in the third slot and fulfills a similar Disorder role like in the Grace team. Once you Burn an enemy with Soldier 11, you can swap to Piper to trigger Disorder.

Zenless Zone Zero Mono Fire Lucy Team

Zenless Zone Zero Mono Fire Team

If Piper/Anomaly isn’t your style or you don’t have Piper, you can also run Soldier 11 in a traditional Stun team with Koleda. Ben and Lucy are both solid options for a third teammates, and this gives you a traditional Attack team with all Fire Agents.

Koleda will deal more damage when paired with Ben for Coordinated Attacks, but Lucy will provide better buffs for Soldier 11. Both are fine options.

Nekomata Teams

Zenless Zone Zero Nekomata Sons of Calydon Team

Nekomata, Piper, Lucy

The last S-Rank Attack Agent is Nekomata, and overall, we rate her slightly below Soldier 11 teams. This is mainly due to her lack of synergy with other characters at the moment. Soldier 11 has Koleda, Ellen has Lycaon, but Nekomata mainly has A-Rank options for teammates.

Nekomata’s kit synergizes with Assault, so running her alongside Piper is a good choice. However, this means you lack space for a Stunner. Lucy and Nicole are both strong options for a third teammate.

Nekomata Cunning Hares Team

You can also run Nekomata in a traditional Attack team with Anby as your stunner. Like Zhu Yuan, this team is very accessible since Anby and Nicole are both free units. However, Nekomata simply doesn’t perform as well in this team compared to Zhu Yuan.

You can replace Anby with Koleda or Lycaon, but Nekomata doesn’t carry as hard as Zhu Yuan and those Stunners have better team options like Ellen or Soldier 11.

In the future, if more Physical Agents release, Nekomata may have better teammate options. But as of right now, options are definitely lacking for the Physical Attribute.

ZZZ F2P Teams

Lastly, let’s cover “F2P” teams. It’s difficult to define what a F2P team looks like. Does it need to have only A Rank Agents? Or does it only have one S Rank Agent?

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter too much what defines it. What matters is that you’re able to build a strong team with what you have.

I hope that by at this point of the article I’ve given you plenty of ideas on how to team build. With all this information, you can definitely look to build teams based on your own account.

You may not be able to synergize perfectly and activate every Additional Ability, but try to fill in missing pieces with what you have.

Anton Teams

Zenless Zone Zero Mono Electric Team

Anton, Grace, Rina

This Mono Electric team forgoes a Stunner and uses Anton as the main source of damage. Anton deals more damage to enemies that are shocked, and Grace enables this very well.

When it comes to A-Rank Agents, Anton’s damage is very good, and he can “cheat” Energy if you have his M1. By dashing away from enemies, you can spam his Drill attack without using energy on his first two Basic Attacks. This will refund Energy and let you spam without worrying about Energy.

This team can be quite competitive, but in general, more players prefer to run Grace/Rina along with Piper over Anton.

Anton Anby Grace Team

Anton Anby Rina Team

If you don’t have both Rina and Grace, you can also replace one of them with Anby. Overall, Anton is definitely impressive for an A-Rank Agent, but he unfortunately doesn’t reach the same heights as the teams above.

However, if you’re facing a Machine enemy in Shiyu Defense, having a full Electric team can be very beneficial as the Shock will immobilize them frequently.

Corin/Billy Teams

Billy Anby Nicole Team

Billy, Anby, Nicole

Lastly, we have teams built around Billy or Corin. While these teams can work, they simply don’t compare to the other teams above. For all intents and purposes, Billy is simply a weaker Nekomata.

Like Nekomata, you can use him a traditional team with Anby/Nicole, or you can pair him with Piper for Assault. Billy doesn’t have the same Assault synergy that Nekomata has, so running Piper with him isn’t as necessary.

Zenless Zone Zero Lycaon F2P Team

Corin, Lycoan, Soukaku

Corin performs slightly better than Billy in both damage and team building options. You can pair her with Lycaon and/or Rina as they are all Victoria Housekeeping.

This then lets you build into other Agents like Anby (with Rina) or Soukaku (with Lycaon). However, Corin runs in to the same issue as Billy. Ellen simply outperforms Corin massively while having the same teammate options.

From a purely meta perspective, you should have pulled for Ellen if you got Lycaon/Rina on your account. However, if you missed Ellen’s banner or simply wanted to skip her, you can still use Corin with decent results.

You won’t push Shiyu Defense as far as if you had Ellen, but with enough investment/time, Corin can still perform well.

Closing Words

This wraps up our initial article on the best teams in Zenless Zone Zero and how to team build.

For the most part, teams boil down to two categories. Attack or Anomaly.

If you run an Attack Agent, you’ll generally want to pair them with a Stun Agent, but there are exceptions. You can run double Support with Ellen or Anomaly/Support in the case of Anton (Grace/Rina). However, you can always default to Attack + Stun + Support to build a strong team.

Anomaly teams are the other category, but you’ll need Grace and/or Piper for these teams. These teams perform very well with less investment, which make them very popular/strong to use. As more Anomaly Agents come out, this archetype will only get stronger as well.
